Valentine's LOVE

Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays . . . I'm a huge fan of it's romantic and religious history. A couple of student organizations BANKED on fundraisers for the holiday by selling valentines: pez dispensers, cute stuffed animals, dark chocolate, scented lotion, etc. which were pre-ordered and hand-delivered to unsuspecting recipients. A couple of classmates baked cookies with pink-hearted icing.

The recently singled folks are doing girls' night out and other various activities. I've been asked several times if Steve and I are going out to dinner tonight. We're not. We seldom celebrate holidays or birthdays on the actual day. We usually wait until the weekend nearest the special day to do anything special. This tradition started back in the military when we often worked on Thanksgiving or Christmas or New Years--so holiday festivities were often delayed or early. Hard to celebrate a birthday dinner in the middle of a work week and especially mid-term week in grad-school. . . so we wait until the holiday rush is over and enjoy the weekend.

This weekend we're going to my favorite, Jade Bistro--double date with our friends Jason & Allycia. It'll be a fun way to unwind and relax after a week full of exams.

Hope each of you has a day filled with love, peace, and chocolate!!!

Maybe so, maybe so. Right now it's more fun to be a scrooge.

My parents do the same thing. Mom says that even the best restaurants are so weeded on the holiday nights she and my dad would rather wait until the weekend or another night. That night they just enjoy spending time together at home. :o)
